Battery Rebate Program
The NSW Government Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS) provides financial incentives to homeowners and businesses that connect their solar battery to a Virtual Power Plant (VPP). The aim of the scheme is to reduce electricity demand during peak times and help stabilise the electricity grid. When a battery joins a VPP, it can export stored electricity to the grid when demand is high. In return, the system owner may receive rebates or payments based on the battery size and participation. The incentive is created through Peak Reduction Certificates (PRCs) generated under the PDRS scheme.
WHAT IS VPP?
A Virtual Power Plant is a network of distributed batteries connected and controlled through software. Essentially, many home batteries operate together like a single large power station.
